Adopt A Drain - Prevent A Flood
December 18 2003

Be Flood Alert
In an effort to reduce localized flooding throughout Tallahassee's Greater Frenchtown Area, the Greater Frenchtown Revitalization Council and the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross partnered to launch the Adopt A Drain - Prevent A Flood campaign.

On December 18 in Frenchtown's Fred Lee Park community leaders from Tallahassee's Greater Frenchtown Area joined with the volunteer and paid staff from the Capital Area Chapter's Disaster Services Office to launch the campaign. The Adopt A Drain - Prevent A Flood campaign's focus is to encourage area residents to monitor the stormwater drains and ditches close to their homes. If a resident discovers a stromwater drain clogged with debris or a stormwater ditch over grown with bushes the resident should call the City of Tallahassee's Stormwater Management Division to report the problem.

As part of the Capital Area Chapter's Be Flood Alert initiative, the Adopt A Drain - Prevent A Flood campaign will bring residents throughout Tallahassee's Greater Frenchtown Area together in an effort to truly build Disaster Resistant Neighborhoods.
