Mobile Kitchen Deployment

Hurricane Charley

In response to several hundred thousand individuals and families loosing electrical power in Osceola County due to Hurricane Charley, the Capital Area Chapter was asked to deploy its Mobile Kitchen (MoKi). What follows is a photo expose on the activities of the MoKi and the Disaster Services Volunteers assigned to prepare the thousands of meals that were served.

Mobile Kitchen Deployment - Hurricane Charley The MoKi arrived in the parking lot of the Osceola Mall in Kissimmee on August 15 at 9:30PM and was promptly set up.

At 8:00AM on Monday August 16 the MoKi began preparing the tens of thousands of meals that will be served to the victims of Hurricane Charley.

Mobile Kitchen Deployment - Hurricane Charley An important part of the MoKi was the sink / wash area. Here Disaster Services Volunteers had the responsibility of keeping all the cooking equipment clean.
