Late Friday afternoon, after it was apparent that Hurricane Charley would not impact
the Capital Area Chapter's jurisdiction, an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) Staging Area was set up in the
parking lot. The mission of this staging area was to process and stock 89 ERVs from throughout the country that
were assigned to the Hurricane Charley Disaster Relief Operation. |
 |
To support this Staging Area, tents were set up and a very large quantity of snacks
and bottled waters were ordered to be stocked onto the incomeing ERVs. The staging area operations lasted long into Friday night and continued through
Wednesday when the last ERV was stocked. |
 |
The first 13 ERV are stocked and ready to head south. |
 |
ERV drivers receive a short briefing from Chris Floyd before they head out. |
 |
ERV crews from throughout the country begin to arrive and are staffed in and given
directions as to where they are to deploy. |
