On New Year's Day 2003, Guardsman from Company A, 3rd Battalion, 124th Infantry
Florida National Guard and their families gathered for a Family Support Group mobilization meeting at the National Guard Armory
in Tallahassee. The purpose of the meeting was to provide information to the solders and their families to assist
them during the units mobilization. |

As part of the mobilization meeting the Armed Forces Emergency Services Volunteers
from the Capital Area Chapter were there to facilitate the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services "Get
To Know Us Before You Need Us" program. The seven (7) Armed Forces Emergency Services Volunteers were also there to
talk one on one with Guardsman and their families. |

On Sunday January 6 at 8:00AM the Guardsman and their families gathered once again
at the National Guard Armory. During a very emotional ceremony Guardsman said farewell to their loved ones. In support
of the farewell activities the Capital Area Chapter's Armed Forces Emergency Services Volunteers set up and staffed
a canteen inside the National Guard Armory. |

Over 400 cups of coffee were served along with 380 doughnuts before during and after
the farewell ceremony. This will accomplished with the assistance of eleven (11) Armed Forces Emergency Services Volunteers
from the Capital Area Chapter. |

The canteen was an overwhelming success! |

As the solders boarded the busses that would deliver them to Ft Stewart Georgia, Armed
Forces Emergency Services Volunteers provided them with a sack breakfast for the ride to their new home along with
very special Comfort Item Bags. |
