Hazardous Weather Awareness Week Guide

Any fourth or fifth grader in Florida could submit their poster to be judged in this statewide contest. The contest was part of the 2005 Hazardous Weather Awareness Week activities.

	357 posters representing 17 school districts from throughout Florida were entered into the 2005 Hazardous Weather Awareness Poster Contest.
	LET THE JUDGING BEGIN! Gary Botts, Assistant Emergency Services Director for the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross spreads out the first group of posters to be judged.
	Judges review the disaster preparedness message as well as the posters artwork.
	The next group of posters are displayed for the judges to review.

	"KEEP AN EYE ON HURRICANES" was the message of this top scoring poster from Volusia County.
	Many of the posters required a closer look as Carolyn Vega from the State of Florida Department of Education zeros in on one she likes.

	Hazardous Weather Awareness Week Press Conference On Monday morning February 21 Individuals representing the various Hazardous Weather Awareness Poster Contest sponsoring agencies begin to gather in the courtyard of the Capitol to kick off Hazardous Weather Awareness Week.
