On September 11 2002 Disaster Services Volunteers from the Capital Area Chapter spent the day memorializing the events
of the past year. From Apalachicola to Madison and from Chattahoochee to Steinhatchee North Floridians came together
in different venues. From Fire Department Ceremonies to Hero Banquets to Candlelight Services the Capital Area Chapter
was there.

Leading up to September 11 2002 the Capital Area Chapter sponsored the
Red, White, Blue & You Challenge. The challenge brought
individuals, families and neighborhoods together to show their spirit and pride by decorating their mail boxes
Red, White and Blue. Here is one of the many examples of the challenge. |
 |
One of the first events of the day was the gathering of Disaster Services Volunteers
from the Capital Area Chapter at Lake Ella in Tallahassee. ERV # 1074 which was a fixture at many events during the
day provides coffee and refreshments to those who gathered. |
 |
The reason for the gathering was to share individual experiences from September 11. |
 |
This was an emotional event in that most of the Disaster Services Volunteers who
gathered at Lake Ella had been assigned to one of the Attack on America Disaster Relief Operations. |

Remembrance" event. Disaster Services Volunteers working off of ERV # 1074 served a hot meal to all of the organizers
of the event including area law enforcement. |
