Hurricane Zeus Exercise - Mission

Hurricane Zeus Exercise The mission of the Hurricane Zeus Exercise was to test the ability of the Capital Area Chapter and its partner organizations to initiate disaster response and recovery activities once a category two (2) storm has passed through North Florida and Southwest Georgia. From conducting Needs and Damage Assessment to managing general population and special needs Shelters, from establishing and staffing Points of Distribution to managing logistical warehouse activities, from establishing and staffing Emergency Aid Stations to conducting information sharing using a wide variety of communications systems, the exercise put the volunteer and paid staff of partner organizations through their paces all in an effort to prepare for the 2007 Hurricane Season.

Hurricane Zeus Exercise The Hurricane Zeus Exercise was designed to challenge the disaster response abilities of participating organizations based in North Florida and Southwest Georgia. The volunteer and paid staff from a wide variety of partner organizations were assigned to Emergency Operations Centers, Shelters, Points of Distribution, Emergency Aid Stations and Service Centers in eight (8) North Florida and nine (9) Southwest Georgia counties.

Hurricane Zeus Exercise - Assumptions

During the week leading up to Hurricane Zeus striking North Florida and Southwest Georgia, advisories from the National Hurricane Center were be posted to the Hurricane Zeus Exercise web site. Each of the postings contained important information on the location, wind speed and forward movement of Hurricane Zeus.
