Hurricane Zoe Exercise - Mission

The mission of the Hurricane Zoe Exercise was to test the ability of the Capital Area Chapter and its partner organizations to initiate disaster response and recovery activities once a category two (2) storm has passed through North Florida. From conducting Needs and Damage Assessment to managing long term shelters, from establishing and staffing Points of Distribution to establishing and staffing Emergency Aid Stations the exercise put the Capital Area Chapter's Disaster Services Volunteers and its partner organizations through their paces all in an effort to prepare for the 2006 Hurricane Season.

Hurricane Zoe Exercise - Information

The Hurricane Zoe Exercise was designed to challenge participants in all eight (8) of the counties served by the Capital Area Chapter. The chapter's Disaster Services Volunteers and volunteers from the chapter's various partner organizations were assigned to Emergency Operations Centers, Shelters, Points of Distribution, Emergency Aid Stations and Service Centers in all eight (8) counties. In addition Disaster Services Volunteers from two (2) American Red Cross chapter's in Southwest Georgia also participated.

Exercise Zoe Exercise - Damage Assessment Maps

In an effort to give the Damage Assessment teams that were dispatched into the field as part of the exercise as realistic as possible learning opportunity, city and neighborhood maps were prepared with various levels of damage identified on them. Hurricane Zoe Exercise - Assumptions

During the week leading up to Hurricane Zoe striking North Florida, advisories from the National Hurricane Center were posted to the Hurricane Zoe Exercise web site. Each of the postings contained important information on the location, wind speed and movement of Hurricane Zoe.

In addition the Capital Area Chapter will posted Chapter Situation Reports outlining the chapter's response activities.
